Skinny jeans, super low-rise, a crop top, and a young girl dancing—or rather imitating—all the moves and choreographies of early 2000s "pop divas" in front of the TV.
Does this scene sound familiar? It could easily be the iconic intro to Normani's Motivation music video, but it’s not. However, it's fair to ride the wave of this classic reference because, just like in that video, life imitates art—and thankfully so!
Her name is Raiana Moraes, but she’s grown fond of her latest nickname, picked up on social media: shawty, get it shawty. Our shawty girl. If these English expressions don’t immediately bring a catchy beat and unforgettable chorus to mind, you’re about to join the legion of shawty-fans of Raiana Moraes!

A quick YouTube search for the remix of Lloyd's Get It Shawty reveals comments like, “It took years for this remix to blow up, but good music always finds its way,” “This track needs to be on Spotify, thanks to the girls’ video I found it,” “Came for the choreography, stayed for the banger,” and “Raiana’s videos got me hooked!” All recent comments on a six-year-old post.
Why is a 2018 remix flooded with requests to be added to streaming platforms beyond SoundCloud? The answer is her again—Raiana Moraes.
The dancer and choreographer has captivated an audience—not just fans but anyone who enjoys a beat with a Brazilian twist and stunning choreography—with a remix by MAFFALDA & JLZ FLIP. And Vetor Magazine delved behind the scenes of her iconic dance.
The Y2K aesthetic (short for “Years 2000”) has always been part of Raiana’s personal style, though it was uncommon in dance classes and studios at the time. By stepping away from the clichés of the 2000s while staying true to her authenticity, Raiana’s Get It Shawty not only launched a trend but defined a lifestyle—defying the fleeting nature of today’s fashion and pop culture trends. Her viral choreography transcended time and space, from its inception to its creation.

“I’ve loved this song since it came out and always wanted to create a choreography for it, but I didn’t feel ready. I saved it and promised myself, ‘When I’m mature enough to choreograph this remix, I’ll do it,’” Raiana recalls.
The result? A video on Instagram with over 2 million views, 25,000 new followers, and a dance that continues to gain reposts and mentions across Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube. The algorithm, designed to make things viral as quickly as it forgets them, spotlighted the work of someone who knew how to wait and grow. The audience recognized the undeniable potential.
Raiana emphasizes that numbers and reach were never her main goals. She creates beyond the logic of social media, focusing on more than just simple, viral movements. She believes there can be strong, intricate choreography that lasts longer than 15 seconds. The secret lies in when years of preparation, training, and perseverance intersect with the algorithm—a girl who started dancing in front of her TV, left a small town in Minas Gerais, and bet on her talent.
Hoje, coreografando e dançando no ballet de artistas como Marina Sena, Urias e Getúlio Abelha, Raiana mostra que quando a questão é conseguir algo (get it), ela consegue mesmo!
Today, choreographing and dancing for artists like Marina Sena, Urias, and Getúlio Abelha, Raiana proves that when it comes to getting it, she truly does!
